Feeding Guidelines

For young chinchillas under one year, Essentials - Chinchilla Food should be provided free-choice. Additionally, offer a combination of free-choice grass hay and alfalfa daily.

Adult chinchillas older than one year should be fed 1/8 – 1/4 cup of Essentials - Chinchilla Food along with free-choice grass hay. Alfalfa hay should only be given as an occasional treat.

Transitioning to a New Food

Switching your pet's food should be done gradually over four weeks to prevent digestive issues. Start with a mixture of 3 parts current food and 1 part new food in week one.
