So - "what is the big deal about Calcium?" I hear you ask.....
Calcium is needed for proper enzyme function, fat metabolism, blood clotting, hormone secretion, bone formation, muscle function, nerve function, feather formation, organ maintenance, skin health and egg formation. Without Calcium - nothing in a bird's body works properly.
In the wild - most birds get the extra Calcium that they need from picking at bones, eggshells and eating mud/dirt in their environment.
Pet birds don't have the same opportunities to forage for extra Calcium so it is up to their caregivers to supply extra Calcium that can be absorbed and used properly in the body.
Calcibird is a combination of Calcium Borogluconate, Vitamin D3 and Magnesium sulphate and with only 20ml per litre for flock treatment - it works out to be very cost effective. Since it is also water soluable it is a great way to get that extra Calcium into your bird - without the worry of picky eaters turning their beaks up at calcium sprinkled in their food!
